Puerto Rico, like many other regions, faces gender disparities in various sectors, including technology and leadership. Historically, young women have encountered societal barriers and cultural norms that limit their access to opportunities and resources, hindering their progress in education and professional fields. Despite progress in recent years, women remain underrepresented in the tech industry and leadership positions.
Moreover, Puerto Rico has its unique challenges due to its geographical location and economic circumstances. Natural disasters like Hurricane Maria in 2017 and the ongoing economic struggles have further emphasized the importance of empowering young women to become resilient leaders who can drive positive change in their communities.
