Harvey Weinstein Risks Life Imprisonement

Already indicted for rape and sexual assault by the Attorney General of New York, former producer Harvey Weinstein now faces a life sentence. Since a third sexual assault victim joined the original complaint, the grand jury of Manhattan chose to sue Harvey Weinstein on the charge of predatory sexual assault. This charge is one of the most serious in the Penal Code. To be found guilty of predatory sexual assault, the Penal Code provides two conditions: to have committed rape, aggravated sexual abuse or premeditated sexual crime; or to have committed a sexual crime against more than one person, or previously convicted of an offense sexual abuse, incest or pedophilia. If convicted of predatory sexual assault, Weinstein faces life imprisonment. If he is found guilty of the third sexual assault complaint against him, he faces an additional 10 years in prison.
