Today, Donald Trump will deliver his first State of the Union speech in front of both houses of Congress. The President of the United States is taking this occasion to raise the issue of the immigration reform proposal the White House has just revealed. A particularly “ambitious” reform in view of the failures suffered by the two previous administrations. For Donald Trump, the success of this reform depends on “four pillars”. First, strengthening the borders with Mexico by the construction of a “wall” , then the regularization of undocumented immigrants arrived children in the U.S., then the limitation of family reunification and finally the abolition of the lottery granting a permanent residence permit, a system favoring cultural diversity. The previous administration had created a temporary decree for undocumented youth. Donald Trump ended it in September, ruling on the fate of many undocumented young people.
