On January 21, the Turkish army and its allies, the rebels of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) continued the ground and air offensive launched on the enclave of Afrin. Afrin is held by the Syrian Kurds Democratic Union Party (PYD) in northwestern Syria. This region, located on the border between Turkey and Syria, is mainly dominated by the Kurdish militia of the PYD, which is considered as a “terrorist” organization by Ankara.
