The United States’ isolation from the United Nations General Assembly on the question of Jerusalem illustrates the narrow view of the US president on International Relations. On December 21, the US suffered a huge humiliation. On December 18, the Security Council elaborated a resolution disapproving the unilateral recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel by Donald Trump. Obviously, the US vetoed the resolution as the US administration knew that Palestinians would get a symbolic reparation from the General Assembly where they have an overwhelming majority. Instead of minimizing the importance of this vote, the US administration has a made a test of truth, stirring virulently the specter of financial sanctions against its opponents.
