Mohammed VI-A

          The first Moroccan observation satellite, Mohammed VI-A, was successfully launched on the night of Tuesday, November 8 to 9, by a Vega rocket from the Kourou launch pad in French Guiana. Moroccan security forces will use satellites to fight insurgent militants in the Sahel, such as al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, piracy in the Gulf of Guinea and border enforcement.
